People Watching

November 2, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Have you ever just taken a step back from the world and watched things move around you? Have you ever made yourself a spectator of the position that you are in, instead of a spectator to whatever it is that is going on that put you in that position?

We had a meeting today at one of my jobs. Everyone that was at work at that time came down to a hall, and we all met. In walks the Vice President of the company, in all the way from the next state where the HQs are. Immediately, and I mean immediately, the room fell silent. I really don’t think I’ve ever heard a room, which was full of laughter and murmuring just moments before, fall so silent, so quickly.

So the VP walks up to podium and begins to give the schpiel. I’m not really important enough to care really what is going on. I’m smart enough to pick out the snipets that can relate to me and figure it out, but most of it is irrelevant to me. So I withdraw myself from the speech. But instead of just zoning out like I sometimes do, I start to watch people’s reactions.

People watching is something that I like to do from time to time. Especially in photographs. I remember when I was a kid, I had a picture of Reggie Miller sinking a game winning shot against the Knicks hanging on my wall. When I looked at the picture, I never really saw Reggie in the photo. I used to have a great time looking at all the expressions on people’s faces at that very moment. There were people with hopeful expressions, people with frightened expressions, people who weren’t even paying attention.

I saw the same in the room today.

But I also saw a more primitive connection. He was the alpha male of our unit. His mere presence dominated the room. When he made a joke, people laughed. No matter how lame the joke. When he said something important, people leaned in.

Anyway, I just found that interesting. And the point of the post isn’t really to talk about how Sally from Accounting reacted to the news of someone being fired, but to get you, the reader to take a step back from things. Sometime, preferably when you’re not going to miss something important, take a step back and look beyond the subject to the supporting cast. Like when you listen to music for not just the lyrics, but the individual instruments. You will find a lot of interesting things.

And check this out:

SAVE_US.X29 is the new tagline from this video.

It all comes to ahead next Monday. Get ready.

Rev 22:12

October 8, 2007 · 1 Comment

I think this video aired last night at No Mercy, but it aired tonight on RAW.

Revelations 22:12 says:

Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done.

Nothing really else to report from this one. We got some new screens and animations, but Rev 22:12 and SECOND_COMING are the two biggest bits.

If I find a better quality video, I’ll edit it in.

EDIT: Holy shit. HBK returned tonight on RAW. I popped when he hit the SCM on Orton.

So, what does that mean for the videos? I know some have thought that Jericho and HBK would be coming back TOGETHER. Another interesting thing I heard is that maybe it’s Bret Hart, and/or The New Hart Foundation (think 8.2.11.SAVIOR_SELF, a la HBK SAVE YOURSELF). Bringing HBK back now would be the first necessary step to this. And remember that this November is the 10th anniversary of the Montreal Screw Job.

SAVIOR_SELF

October 2, 2007 · 4 Comments

Promo #2 from RAW last night:

So going frame by frame, here’s some things I find:

demos/General_Demos/CyberAstronomy/data
SMACK_BROUGHT1
BIG_SHOW MOVE
8.2.11/SAVIOR_SELF
GRAND_SLAM.1/MOS (MOS is a TV term for the graphics with people’s names) (this is repeated in the same fashion over and over again, like SAVIOR_SELF and SAVE_US.222)
RAW_NEW2.com (no website at this addy, but interesting)
DOUBLE_FIN
flame_5.0.7OCT/action/GREAT_1.action
I_bookshelves
share/catman/a_man/cat1/sysadm
SAVE_US.222 (didn’t see this in real time)
discreet/flame_5.0.7OCT/action/WM99_DVD

A lot of those things can point to Jericho, but look at this: 8.2.11/SAVIOR_SELF

8th Letter of the Alphabet: H
2nd Letter of the Alphabet: B
11th Letter of the Alphabet: K

And some of those things above also point to HBK:

BIG_SHOW MOVE – Showstoppa?
8.2.11/SAVIOR_SELF – 8.2.11 = HBK? Savior, obvious religious aspects…
GRAND_SLAM.1/MOS – HBK was 1st Grand Slam champion
I_bookshelves – HBK wrote a book

However, at the same time, 8.2.11 could mean 8 to 11, which is the time that No Mercy runs on October 7th, which would slide right up against the 7OCT that is played over and over again.

And it should be mentioned that after last week’s “SAVE_US” this week it’s “SAVIOR_SELF”, which when you say it out loud sounds like “Save Yourself”.

Rumors abound as to what this is for. Is it a promo for Cyber Sunday? A return of Chris Jericho? Maybe both?

See Ya, Jermaine; v. 2.0

August 8, 2007 · Leave a Comment

So, friends. The plot thickens.

JO popped on The Drive with JMV yesterday backpedaling all over what he said that I blogged about yesterday.

Let me just say that JMV did an excellent job covering all the bases, laying it all out and giving JO a platform to talk. Hell, don’t take my word for it, listen to it yourself. Go to JMV’s page there, scroll down a bit, and hit the link.

JO says that he wants to go to a contender. He doesn’t want to go to to a team that’s not a winner.

Guess what, bud: it doesn’t matter what you want. To my (limited) knowledge, you don’t have a No Trade Clause in your contract. You’ll go to whatever team Larry Bird wants to ship you. If your ass is going to garner a better trade going to Atlanta; that’s where you should go. You haven’t done anything here, so why should we worry about you wanting to win a title now?

You’re not doing anything to help the team sitting on the bench “hurt”. And if you really are legit hurt every time you miss games, then you’re not helping the team being broken down on the side of the court every week. JO in a suit looks great, but he’s the only thing more worthless than JO in a uniform on the court.

Larry. Trade him. Get what you can. I’d trade him – and while we’re on the subject, can we package JO with the waste of space that is Jamaal Tinsley? Please? – for some cotton candy and a wad of pre-chewed chewing gum. The man is taking up such a large chunk of salary cap, and he needs to go.

But Tinsley…don’t even get me started…

See Ya, Jermaine

August 7, 2007 · 1 Comment

So I had to come back from my blogging hiatus to share the Jermaine O’Neal saga with you all.

So it seems that yesterday, our good friend Jermaine went on to a reporter from Sports Illustrated about how he’d just LOVE to party with Kobe in LA. You can hear that here.

Well, I say, see ya later. Jermaine, you’ve done nothing for this team. You are a good player, but the only title you’ve brought home since coming from Portland is the Most Overrated Player award that you’ve been defending successfully since 2002.

This team will be better without you. The Pacers are better when you’re “injured”. When you’re not “injured”, every play goes like this:

1. Inbound the ball.
2. Dribble down the floor.
3. Pass to JO on the block.
4. JO poses 10 seconds for those with the benefit of flash photography.
5. JO passes it out.
6. Pass goes back to JO.
7. The crowd dies of boredom.
8. JO throws up brick as shot clock expires.

So, at the very least we’ll be more entertaining to watch without JO on the floor. We can’t get any worse, really.

But I’d like to go ahead and start the rumor that JO was told by either Kobe or the Lakers to come public with his desire to be traded to lower his trade value (a la Ron Ron) so the Lakers could keep Andrew Bynum. It makes perfect sense. Tell all your friends that you read it here first.

New Car!

So I’m finally trading in my 1995 Chevy Lumina that I’ve had for five years in. I’ll be cruising around town in a 2003 Dodge Durango. Pretty sweet.
