So last night April and I attended the wedding of my best-friend growing up. I haven’t talked to him in awhile. Not due to lack of trying on his part, however. I just have been a sucky friend, if I even qualify for the word “friend” in this situation.
Growing up, this guy and I were like peas ‘n’ carrots. You couldn’t go too long seeing one of us without seeing the other (unless he was hunting, which I was not all about). I’ve known this guy since I was in third grade. That’s 14 years.
But now, I feel like I don’t know anything about him, and that makes me disappointed in myself. I was the best-man in his first wedding, and I slipped, in just a few years, from best man to just another face in the crowd.
You know, for someone who complains about people not getting him, it sure is shitty to ignore one of the friends he does have.
And that makes me sick.
So, now I have to figure out how to climb back up the ladder. I don’t want to be an acquaintance, I want to climb back to the top, which won’t be easy, because the guy there now is pretty much cemented in now.
That is, if he doesn’t do what would be 100% acceptable and ignore me like I did him.
Who wants ‘em? First six to reply with your email addy gets ‘em.
What’s Pownce? What are you, dense?
Well, if you don’t know, I’ll copy exactly what they have on their website:
Pownce is a way to send messages, files, links, and events to your friends. You’ll create a network of the people you know and then you can share stuff with all of them, just a few of them, or even just one other person really fast.
So this movie looks pretty good. Code named “Cloverfield”, the movie is from J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot, the guys behind Lost. Basically all that is known is what you see on the trailer. It’s about an attack on New York from a camcorder’s perspective. The movie comes out on 1/18/08. You may have seen the trailer before Transformers.
So everyone likes a little rumor here or there, so here: take these two and call me in the morning.
1. This one won’t be interesting to anyone outside of Indianapolis, but the rumor making the rounds is that former WZPL and WRZX employee Carlos Diaz, who is currently working for the TV show Extra, will be coming back to Indianapolis to work for one of the Top 3 TV stations in the market.
2. Yesterday, Dan Patrick announced that he was leaving ESPN. Well, the timing is quite incredible, as I’m hearing that Dan Patrick may join NBC’s coverage of the 2008 Olympic Games from Beijing, China. The games start in August of 2008, which just so happens to be one year after Patrick is done with ESPN. Is this merely a coincidence, or is Patrick sitting out that dreaded one year No-Compete clause? Guess we’ll have to wait and see…
So it’s been over a week since I blessed this corner of the Super Highway with my presence, but I’m here now, and that’s all that matters.
The past week has been crazy. I worked 55 hours, had July 4th in there somewhere, went to a wedding, started my third job solo, and painted a nursery. Holy cow, I know.
So this is getting ridiculous. The Pacers do nothing to try and trade into the draft to get someone that could help the team. Oh wait. No, they traded for 7′2″ project Stanko Barac from Europe. Woo. Dude has “Zan Tabac” stamped on his forehead. Why not make the trade with Portland and get Carl Landry from Purdue? The kid is a beast, and will be one of the best players to come out of this year’s 2nd round. Not only that, but you’ll put asses in the seats to watch the local kid play. He betters the team on the floor and helps anemic attendance gates that challenge the Indiana Fever for Top Draw numbers.
But no. The Pacers stood around while he was dealt to Houston, where he could be starting next season. And I’m not even liking him because we’re both 04 graduates of Vincennes University. The guy played his ass off and has worked hard over the spring to get better. He was one of the best performers in Orlando at the Nike camp. He’s going to be awesome.
But who the hell needs a guy of Landry’s talent when you can bring in Kareem Rush, whose highlight reel of his four year career is about as long as mine is? The guy got cut from flippin’ CHARLOTTE for crying out loud. Are you kidding me? That’s like having to have the piece of cake that not even the fat kid wanted to eat.
Oh, but wait, there’s former University of Kentucky star Tony Delk! Another guy who has more letters in his last name than great moments in the league. How are these people making your team better?
Unless Larry Bird is trying to get a head start in the Eric Gordon/OJ Mayo race, he’s moving the team in the wrong direction.
If you haven’t heard, apparently someone from Stamford, Connecticut edited Chris Benoit’s Wikipedia entry early Monday morning with the phrase:
“Chris Benoit was replaced by [Johnny Nitro] for the ECW Championship match at Vengeance, as Benoit was not there due to personal issues, stemming from the death of his wife Nancy.”
The post was made at 12:01am EDT, but the bodies weren’t found until Monday afternoon.
This story has been reported by the national media all day today, but have you seen the resolution to it all?
Apparently a kid from UConn, who regularly defaces Wiki articles, just got “lucky”:
It is one of those things that just turned into a bizarre coincidence. That night I found out that what I posted, ended up actually happening, a 1 in 10,000 chance of happening, or so I thought. I was beyond wrong for posting wrongful information, and I am sorry to everyone for this. I just want everyone to know it was stupid of me, and I will never do anything like this again. I just posted something that was at that time a piece of wrong unsourced information that is typical on wikipedia, as it is done all the time.
Also, I’d like to apologize for my other wiki “updates” on other pages as they were immature and dumb, but I know I’m not the only one who has done this, but nonetheless I will never post anything like that again as I have learned from this.
Since I really don’t have much to write about today, I’ll go ahead and take this time to tell you all that the MSB_FTW, a fantastic message board of 60 people or so, which has surpassed the 500,000 post mark recently (in just over a year), has just opened registrations. So sign up. Tell them that VUTB sent you.
